Recent developments: personality and mobility.
I may have mentioned this offhand before, but Little Miss is now up and running, literally. She is still pretty wobbly, but can now pull herself to standing and take to running laps around our main level - just like her Mom. And just like her Dad, she has inherited a knack for self-sabotage and making relatively simple tasks as difficult as possible by choosing to carry large awkward objects on her travels - like a giant stuffed elephant, or a heavy book, or a bag of diapers, or my hockey bag and golf clubs. These invariably get tangled up in her knees and feet and send her tumbling to the hardwood floors - thereby giving her plenty of practice in the art of "pulling yourself back up", and also, increasing her pain threshold. What she lacks in grace, she more than makes up for in cuteness and tenacity.
She also seems to enjoy being chased by hand puppets, which frankly, is the exact opposite reaction to what mine would be in a similar situation... unless they were friendly puppets coming to give me money or candy.
Lydia has also developed something of a temper, as I'm sure most kids her age do, and has been known to drop a tantrum or two when we try to put her to bed, or try to get her dressed, or take dangerous objects out of her hand, etc. Most recently, she went to brew a pot of coffee, and upon discovering that we were all out, cursed loudly and launched a dishrag across the kitchen - thereby leaving no doubt as to who her father is.
On the positive side, most of her time not spent sleeping or in a state is spent hugging stuffed animals, kissing photographs, browsing her books, and (as discussed) running around the house, giddy and laughing.
