Miss Lydia is sick. So is Miss Lydia's Mom. I expect Miss Lydia's Dad to be sick shortly as well, although he (that would be, I) only have five sick hours remaining for the rest of the fiscal, but this isn't about me. So yeah, she wakes up coughing pretty frequently during the night, and her naps, and it is a sin - and the only person who can seem to settle her in this weakened state is her Moms, although it isn't for my lack of trying. Every time we hear her coughing over the monitors, Terri makes a pained frowny expression, then she starts coughing too, then I quickly retreat into my hyperbaric chamber for protection...
Other than the recent sickness, Lydia's most noteworthy developments since Day 127 (the last such post) include a love of her "jumperoo" toy and all of it's flashing lights and noises (a dangerous precedent), a marked improvement in dexterity (she can now reach out and grab things, like her toys, Mom's hair or Dad's bottom lip - and bring them all to her mouth) and an increased interest in the cats, whom she now follows across the floor with her eyes. It is only a matter of time before she is grabbing their tails and chasing them into hiding. Oh, and she has this new thing where, as soon as her feet are exposed, she brings her foot up to her mouth and sucks on her toes. I don't recall reading about this in the baby books, but I'll assume it is normal. Because of this, I've been calling her a monkey, although I'm not sure if monkeys actually suck on their feet or if I'm just thinking of those creepy Mon-chi-chi toys. I can't speak for Terri, but I know I lost the ability to suck on my toes some time ago; it's good to know we have this skill set back in the family.
And, we still dance every night before bed, to Cat Power or Feist or something similarly mellow and inoffensive. This helps everyone unwind...
