A Co-Worker Saved My Life

This morning my auto-pilot failed me. I was so scrambled and sleepy that I forgot my bookbag on the front step, along with my lunch. And my wallet. And my iPod. And my coffee - good god, my coffee! Having to scrape the frost from the windshield and fill the pellet stove and put the compost to the curb must have thrown off my mindless morning routine. And now here I am, having to hear conversations from over the cubicle walls, broke and drinking cafeteria coffee - coffee that was purchased with loaner cash from my cubicle mate who quickly recognized my unstable, fragile state. I now owe him a kidney - possibly mine - if he needs it.
