Who'd a thunk I'd ever be writing about politics on here, but damn if Harper's new "family man" election ads don't make him look like a creepy pedophile*. Well, maybe they're not that bad (er, yes they are), but they are certainly forced and insincere. I actually liked him better when he was frosty, militant, stiff and robotic - before they programmed him to hug children and cry - at least he was honest. It's almost like the Conservatives are trying to beat Rick Mercer to the punch by making ads so ridiculous they are impervious to satire. That wool sweater - genius! And that whole press conference thing from the middle-class Asian family home in BC - unbelievably insulting, to ALL of Canada. Do they think people are going to forget that this is the same man who - during a campaign! - accused an entire region of the country of nurturing a "culture of defeat"? (and much worse, etc. etc.) Now he loves the middle class. And his kids. And his wool sweaters. And, incidentally, placing gag orders on his own MPs lest they express any independent thought and potentially contradict his soft new persona.

Sorry - back to the standard mindless pop culture surfing and daily personal updates.
*Note I am not saying he is a pedophile, merely that he looks like one.
