And We're Back

If anyone cares - after monkeying around with the DELL-provided disks and working the labyrinthine phone lines of DELL On-Call software support (see previous rant) for literally hours yesterday - the resolution to my problem was thus: complete system restore. This means that I lost all information on my computer. It also means that the two-plus weeks that I waited for the software disks from DELL (they were couriered overnight on Thursday) was for naught, and likewise for the $70 I dropped for said support. But, team, we got through this! And I'm all the stronger for it. Potentially related - I think I have an ulcer.

Thanks to Craig for saving many of my photos and for providing the software I lost, and again to Lockhart for the replacement laptop, and to SharePod freeware for salvaging my music collection from my iPod. Upsides - now my music collection is organized much more logically and consistently, and uh, all of that junk I never used is cleaned off the machine. Downsides - see three weeks of whining, inconvenience, ulcer.
