First, the haiku:
Juno
It-girls come and go
But this one's from Halifax
I liked this movie.
Yeah, I liked this movie despite myself, for it had so many things going against it: the advertised quirkiness and the obvious folky soundtrack - so typical of the Wes Anderson sub-genre of flicks that this movie was shamelessly marketed as. And the hype, oh the hype. But yeah, it rose above. There was suprising acting from Jennifer Garner. There were themes and plotlines similar to those in Beautiful Girls and High Fidelity, which I enjoyed also. And there are some burns in this flick that will hit pretty close to home for guys my age ("Your shirt is stupid").
If you have not yet seen, go see.
