Hey hey - it's been a while, eh? Let's get started.
Since we last spoke, I believe Lydia has sprouted wings and learned to fly. She is, howdoyousay, "superhuman", and she rains her lovely loving love down upon us measly gravity slaves like some sort of two year-old cupid. Well, not really, but she has sprouted something of a saucy, independent attitude and has learned to say "no" when you ask her to do something. Now, this isn't all the time, and I suppose it is to be expected, but it is new and arguably worth mentioning. So far, the feared "twos" have yet to be terrible, but they are a little more trying, if only slightly (so far). Parenting is hard after all!
On the more positive side of things, Little Miss has also developed quite an entertaining imagination - pretending to catch and release imaginary grasshoppers and butterflies, going grocery "shopping" in our kitchen with imaginary money, feeding her stuffed animals with invisible food. Also - rocking and singing her toy babies to sleep (all of which are naked for some reason), stuffing them all into a bassinet and tucking them in, then checking on them periodically. Also also - recent obsessions with hide and seek, Play-doh, Thomas The Tank Engine, and Elmo. Evening family times are fun times...
...and exhausting times. Lydia seems to have adopted her mother's interest in running, and does so nightly in circles around our main level. She has even abandoned all pretense of "taking the baby for a walk" or "going shopping" and just burns around and around and around, with the requirement that you chase her. Pregnant Mom usually gives up after a lap or two. Dad goes for as long as he can. The cats cower under the chairs. The neighbours think we're crazy.
We probably are.
