So yesterday it finally happened - my first Sharon, Lois and Bram earworm. Inevitable, it was every bit as nightmarish as it sounds. And worse - it wasn't limited to one song. Little Rabbit Frou Frou. The Itsy Bitsy Spider. Skip To My Lou. The list goes on. One minute, I'm making breakfast for Lydia - the next, I'm a creepy, bearded, expressive children's performer. Banjo strings and three part harmonies and dancing elephant imagery rolled over and over in my head; kids warbled out of tune in my ears; my eyebrows bounced up and down in a most exaggerated manner. This went on for pretty much the entire day, which ended with me in bed, contemplating who could have stolen the cookies from the cookie jar.
I spent most of today with my headphones on, trying to scour the syrupy cuteness from my brain. Sad-diddly-diddly, I wasn't entirely successful. I hope this isn't a door that I cannot close...and quickly. In the meantime, at least my daughter is having fun (in the morning and in the afternoon, then in the evening, undernwath the moon... etc etc etc).
Yikes.
