Hmm, according to the internets, using a low ceiling bounce flash too close to a subject creates shadows on the subject's brow, eye sockets and chin, thus rendering them goth and Uncle Fester-esque (I'm paraphrasing). I guess that explains the questionable self-portrait below, wherein I look both aged and morose, which in fairness, is pretty accurate some days.
Tonight, if you care, I will trying to fashion a flash diffuser umbrella thingee out of whatever random crap I can find around the house - think dishrags, miscellaneous screws, bags of newsprint, etc. I hope to achieve favourable results... verrrry favourable.
