Stage 1 -- Get up realllly early when Lydia wakes. This stage is spent abstaining from coffee and expending as little energy as possible - while still staying on the good-side of negligent - in the hopes that some sleep can still be had before...
Stage 2 -- Reluctantly committing to the day, to eventually gorge on coffee and homemade jam. Stage 2 begins when Lydia wakes from her first nap, which can last anywhere from a frustrating 45 minutes to a blissful 2.5 hours, and consists of a daily excursion within the confines of the HRM (as we are very time-limited). We have ogled the ducks at the Public Gardens in Halifax. We have hiked the rocks at Crystal Crescent beach (and shrieked internally in disgust at the exposed old man wieners). We have feasted on plank-BBQ'd salmon at the folks' place on the shore. We have eaten the hearts of dozens of infidel mongrels who dared defy us. You know - general, wholesome family stuff.
Stage 3 -- The post-second nap until bedtime stage is pretty typical - feeding, bathing, reading, protecting the carpets from naked baby droppings - the usual.
Stage 4 -- The end-of-day unwind. Beer and snacking and unloading the dozens of pics from the camera, and... not much else. Tonight we watched Coraline. The other night we played cards. Some night this week I may talk myself into going for a run. Or being social. Or maybe some home renos if I get really crazy. If anyone wants to hang out, call me during Stage 4.
Thus concludes a typical day in this, my domestic staycation. And now, my nipples.
