Cupboard full of half-empty, left-over booze - check. Fridge with a bunch of crap, er, potential drink mixes: check. Access to the internet and a freezer and a plastic popsicle mold thingee: check. Free time: tonight, check. But wait, the internet tells me that these type things require something called a "simple syrup" - panic! Oh wait, it's just sugar and water. I have those things. And five minutes later I have a "simple syrup"; the magic ingredient (if you don't count the alcohol).
Not having all of the ingredients handy to make any one recipe as written, I resorted to what I do best: make shit up as I go. At my disposal: most of a bottle of Disaronno, half a pint of Applebee's rum, the end of a carton of OJ, most of a bottle of Sussex Ginger Ale, and a lemon squeezer. Oh, and a big pin with which to prick my finger and add the real magic ingredient... my blue Vulcan blood. All of the above was thrown together rather willy-nilly, with the alcohol content jacked up to increase the potential for buzz. All told, the exercise yielded 8 Disaronno/OJ popsicles and a tray of rum/Ginger Ale ice cubes... which I have no idea how I'll get into my belly (maybe mixed with OJ?)...
The entire process is documented in the lovely collage below, including the expected tears of joy when these guys are finally consumed tomorrow after the Little Miss goes to bed.
Pinky's up!
