Terri and I started "dating" in high school, so we (very, very thankfully) never had to suffer through that whole awkward university/post-university courting and flirting nonsense. If I recall, the way things worked in high school was all like "Hi, my friend likes you"... followed by a few group dates to the movies or the Tacoma Street McDonald's... and maybe a few creepy slow dances to Sheriff/Extreme/Boyz II Men/Tag Team (Whomp! There it is!)... possibly followed by "yeah, my friend doesn't think it's working out" kind of thing. The female population of the Eastern Shore and Dalhousie circa 1995-2002 should be counting their lucky stars that they were not subjected to my idea of charming small talk or fun dates. Conversely, Terri has (or had) no problem with my Thursday-Saturday night benders and long, deep discussions about the relative merits of Mike Patton vs. Maynard. Or at least chose to stick it out. Love.
Aaaaanyways - I am especially thankful for how my 20s played out after reading this thread on the local Halifax time vacuum: http://media.locals.ca/localsconf/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=163926
Enjoy. Happy Friday.
