The Final Hours

Last day before vacation. Today is. The last day. Before vacation. For me. Today.

If I have my way, today will be spent expending as little energy as possible, and ensuring that whatever work I am responsible for continues in my glorious glorious absence. Read: coasting, delegating. A lack of work-related drama and deadline crises is very important today, both for my health and that of the company's resources for which I am at least partially responsible, because my brain power is somewhat diminished this morning after spending a few hours last night... drinking beer... at a bar! Also: talking to people in bars, or rather, screaming into people's faces. And if you're me, and somewhat inebriated and feeling happy and garrulous, you end up yelling into people's faces a lot over the course of the night, and there's no way you can really feel good about yourself after that. But maybe this is just last night's residual draft talking, as I certainly had fun at the time.

But I digress - the task at hand: getting through the next 8 hours. I have my coffee, my headphones, my schedule. I am determined, but I am tired. Alas, my sluggish momentum will not be deterred by the requests of others, nor by the two balls of fuzzy yarn that seem to be jammed into my temples.

Focus Aaron, focus.

I would assume that you did not yell into people faces, but you thought you did. Much like all of the inappropiate comments you think you make at parties. Even though no one remembers these comments or gets offended.

For the record - everyone was yelling in everyone else face. It was an orgy of face-yelling.

But only I cried myself to sleep....
