I Need To Stop

- ranting. But alas I cannot. This is my last on the subject, I promise.

Somehow I have become too emotionally invested in this Stanley Cup Final. I stayed up until midnight to watch what? the most exciting and talented players in the league get smothered under Detroit's "sound defensive play"? It's like 1995 all over again, and it is enough to make me want to hurt somebody. It ruins my day - I actually get cranky and short with people. Even the media is getting frustrated - http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs/2009/news?columnist=lebrun_pierre&id=4218640...

I place 100% of the blame on Detroit's ugly, horse-faced coach Mike Babcock (picture him saying "No sir, I don't like it" - huh? huh?). Save for a few first liners and Nicklas Lidstrom, the players who wear the Detroit jersey don't matter, because they're all trained to be robots, mindlessly following THE SYSTEM. And that is why Detroit can make all-stars out of 6th round picks. And that is how they can continue to win without Datsyuk, or Draper, or Lebda, or a healthy Lidstrom, and so on and so on. Anyone can dump the puck and stand in the center of the neutral zone waving their stick around. Hell, they don't even need a good goaltender, they just need someone who can make the first save, after which all five red shirts collapse in front of the net and clear the rebound. I don't buy this Osgood MVP talk - did you see him play the puck? Dude is a liability who just so happens to have an army of Swedish automatons playing defense in front of him. I'm pretty sure any rec league goalie could play nets for the Wings and it wouldn't make a lick of difference.

Yeah, I need to stop. Sorry.

Let's go Pens.
