Weather and Lies

Peter Coade told me Sunday was going to be a nightmare of freezing rain and slushiness and grossness, so we had planned to stay in with a stack of DVDs, an endless supply of coffee, a "roaring" fire in the pellet stove, and a baby. Well, the freezing rain never did hit our neighbourhood, but we had a good thing going - so we went with it. By the end of the day, we had collectively consumed - if you care - takeout from The Vines, an hour or so of the CTV Christmas Daddies (it was all we could take), disk one of 30 Rock season two, a half hour of Tropic Thunder (interrupted), most of a bag of pellets, coffee, tea, cider, hummus, pita, popcorn, Doritos and between 16 and 25 ounces of breast milk. Mmmm. It was a good day.

I then woke this morning to several inches of snow, treacherous roads and all of the grossness that was promised yesterday. Meteorology is - as one friend put it - the softest of the sciences. I agree.
