Pretty Hate Machine

I have in my hand the case for Nine Inch Nails' Pretty Hate Machine, from 1989. Interesting bit of trivia, on the inner sleeve acknowledgements Trent thanks, exclusively, Clive Barker, Prince, Public Enemy and This Mortal Coil. I'd say that would be an apt description of this album: lost of disturbing and gruesome and semi-religious lyrics (a la Clive Barker), lots of synth (Prince), programmed beats with minimal bass (Public Enemy's Bomb Squad production, minus Flavour Flav, who would be hi-larious on a NIN record IMO - "yeeeeaaaahh boyeeee, like an animal!!!"), and all wrapped up in a goth package (This Mortal Coil). Trent would have been good at Myspace.
