Burial - Untrue

A quick review.

This album...
  • is the product of a mysterious DJ of whom few know the true identity (unless it's Thom Yorke or like, Al Gore, does it really matter?);
  • is nominated for the Mercury Prize;
  • will likely make dozens of critics' "best of" lists for 2008;
  • uses THE SAME BEAT FOR EVERY SONG;
  • samples vocals from what seems like a single R&B album for every song (maybe even the same R&B track, who can tell really);
  • uses the same three or four effects on every track;
  • is enjoyable for about 10 minutes, or one track at a time; and thus,
  • is highly over-rated and IMO, not deserving of so much praise.

There. I said it.
