Phoenix: hot, clean, empty and under construction... constantly...
Grand Canyon: past Big Bug Creek, Horse Thief, Dead Horse and Bloody Basin is a giant slash in the earth - perhaps you've heard of it? The Canyon is everything you'd expect - big, beautiful and full of tourists, including us. The air was pretty hazy, which made the picture taking tricky, so I don't have high hopes for my film...
Monument Valley: dusty, red, big, beautiful and also full of tourists. Guided tours = money grab, we took the rental HHR on the self-guided tour alongside the parade of SUVs and re-tooled passenger pick-ups, which was a little hairy in spots but we made it out with no damage save for a thick coating of dirt. The air was pretty hazy here too, so I don't have high hopes for this film either...
I am currently in a hotel room in Kayenta, Arizona - where dogs roam the parking lots, cows and elk roam the streets, and they don't sell no alcohol. The Departed is on HBO (everyone dies). Tomorrow we hit Sedona. Monday we hit home. And that about wraps it up.
