Acquired tastes I have yet to acquire:
1. Wine - I'm told by everyone that it's well worth spending the time to learn to love the wine, to which I say - I like beer. Why would I waste precious beer drinking oppotunities on something I know I don't enjoy. That said, I've tried, but failed, and will likely try/fail again...
2. Tea - No more coffee for me means I have a distinct lack of caffiene in my bloodstream. Tea may fill this void, but to me drinking tea is like sipping hot perfume. Ick...
3. Cigars - Give me headspins and induce vomiting. Mmm....
4. Guinness - or any sludgy, thick beer. Past attempts at this I relate to drinking thick black oatmeal, which isn't very refreshing/appetizing at all. However, of everything on this list, this is the taste I am most likely to acquire.
5. Freebasing - Burnt lips? Extreme paranoia? Rick James? No thanks, I'll take mine the old fashion way - suppository...
Canadian television programs I miss from when I was young and had only three channels:
1. Video Hits - Before I had Muchmusic, I had this. But only the Samantha Taylor years are worth remembering; Brian Elliot was a douchebag. Who remembers Mona With the Children? The daily Ghostbusters? Endless Bryan Adams? Doug & The Slugs? Spadinabus? I could go on forever...
2. Edison Twins - Canadian educational television at its finest - Encylopedia Brown goes CanCon. Mostly I remember the theme song...
3. Shantytown/Blizzard Island - I have a hard time seperating these two in my mind for some reason. I think Shantytown was like Size Small set on the shore, with puppets and kids making macaroni + paper plate crafts. Blizzard Island was a fantasy-type show with puppets, on the shore. Both were A1...
4. Seeing Things - Nerdy psychic action program set in Quebec. Awesome. I think this might be on Showcase nowadays...
5. Beachcombers/Danger Bay - A tie. Bruno Gerussi. The Persephone. Kids playing tennis in Vancouver in really embarrassingly short white shorts. Relic. Speedboat races. Theme songs: da-da-da-d-daa, daa daa daa-daa daaaa-daaaaa...
