Sorry for the lame Family Guy joke here, but you know what really grinds my gears? Those red bags of flyers that land on my front porch three or four times a week. I don’t read them. I never asked to receive them. All they do is make a mess and make more work for me on recycle days. I hate them hate them hate them hate them...
So, what are my options? Calling the Chronicle Herald and Daily News and asking to be taken off the distribution list? Putting stickers and signs on my home to indicate that I don’t want to receive these things? Writing my civic representative? Saving them all up until I have enough to fill the back of a pickup, then dumping them all in the front entry of the Herald offices downtown?
Seeing as the little punks who deliver these bags of uselessness barely make it onto my driveway before they let fly, let alone getting close enough to my house to read a “No Flyers Please” sticker or my house number – I don’t see these as viable solutions. Writing my councillor? Probably just as useless. No, if I had a backbone I would opt for the vindictive choice number 4, because – while not actually solving the problem – it would give me a great sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. Good for me. But we both know that this will never happen.
Maybe I’ll just start a Facebook page about it.

You and I must have conversed about this at some point as these are our thoughts EXACTLY. We have been fighting the same damn battle here on Bernice Drive. What took the cake was when I called (for the fifth time in six months) last week and the snotty flyer guy in the flyer distribution department was really rude to me. That got me thinking about taking all of the dirty flyers that we have been dumping into our garbage box for a year and dropping them in the lobby at the Chronicle Herald. I would still really like to do that, but finally, the flyers seem to have stopped...
