Well, the year is almost over. Barring anything disastrous happening in the next two weeks, I can safely say it was a pretty good year. I traveled to the Domincan Republic, Quebec City, Montreal, California (twice), and er... New Brunswick and Cape Breton. We hiked the shit out of Joshua Tree Park. And into Pollets Cove. And up the Musquodoboit Railway. I was a Best Man. I probably drank less - which for the first time since high school, I kind of consider a good thing. I lost less money at poker - mind you, this was not by winning more, but by playing less. I tried wine. I hated wine. I started a new blog. I kept in touch with friends-moved-away. I paid for all of my music downloads. I bought more local music. I treated many animals like people, but relatively few people like animals. I started going to bed earlier. I saw a few great concerts, and a few great movies, and a few great television series. I (hopefully) will have finished my basement. I ate a lot of good food...
However, I continue to drink far too much coffee. I still spend frivolously (by my standards). I'm still cheap. I still contradict myself. I still waste far too much time on the internet. I started a Facebook account. I neglected my Facebook account. I still stress about little things. I still worry about big things. And I still blog about me, lots.
My favourite album this year might be Feist's "The Reminder". But I also loved Radiohead, Wilco, Explosions In The Sky, The National, Jenn Grant, LCD Soundsystem and Miracle Fortress. My favourite song was "1, 2, 3, 4", but I'm a little tired of it now. Maybe Wilco's "Either Way", or The Shins' "Sleeping Lessons", or LCD Soundsystem's "Someone Great" or "All My Friends". Geez, I used to be so good at these definitive statements.
ANYWAY, here's to a good year. I'm getting drunk this weekend. Come join in.
