One of the reasons I listen to CBC Radio One is to avoid the annoying ads - the rumbling baritones hawking motorcycles or wrestling matches, the obnoxious high-pitched banter, the embarrassing double entendres, the "bedroom deeeee-pohhhhh"s, and so on and so forth. However, I've noticed recently that the on-air CBC promos for some of their contests and special shows are equally as irritating. Squealing. Obnoxious. There was that Go! ad for their urban warrior show. The recent Canada Reads and Canada Writes spots are painful. Anything featuring Jian's smug, self-loving voice makes me want to wrap my car around a streetlight.
I don't know who's running things anymore, but...I miss Promo Girl.
